Ma démarche
Le travail auquel je me consacre depuis quelques années a pour inspiration l’Afrique en général, certaines de ses cultures traditionnelles et l’Éthiopie en particulier.
Ma recherche se divise en deux grandes parties.
La première „classique“ comprend un travail sur les portraits à l’acrylique sur toile ou sur papier (moyen format) et sur les drapés que portent les habitants des hauts-plateaux. Les drapés ont particulièrement attiré mon attention car ils sont une part de l’identité de l’Éthiopie. Les peindre est une manière de redécouvrir dans le mouvement de l’ombre et de la lumière des silhouettes la beauté de cette identité.
La seconde partie consiste en une recherche tout subjective sur l’atmosphère du désert, de la vie quotidienne africaine ainsi que sur la destruction de la charpente sociale urbaine. J’utilise différentes techniques : la photographie peinte, le photomontage et le cyanotype (impression en bleu). Souvent, je compose avec plusieurs à la fois.

My inspirations
The work I have been doing for the past few years is inspired by Africa in general and some of its traditional cultures and Ethiopia in particular. My research is divided into two main parts.
The first „classical“ part includes work on portraits in acrylic on canvas or paper (medium format) and on the drapes worn by the inhabitants of the highlands. The draperies have particularly attracted my attention because they are part of Ethiopia’s identity. Painting them is a way of rediscovering the beauty of this identity in the movement of light and shadow of the silhouettes.
The second part consists of subjective research into the atmosphere of the desert, everyday African life and the destruction of the urban social fabric. I use different techniques: painted photography, photomontage and cyanotype (blue printing). I often work with several at once.
